Commissioning a Patient-Led NHS
Published in July 2005, the Department of Health document Commissioning a Patient-Led NHS (CPLNHS) outlined significant changes to the structure of the NHS, affecting PCTs, SHA and Ambulance Trusts. This page brings together links to the original documents and its various updates plus polls and surveys pertaining to CPLNHS, a guide to the reconfiguration proposals submitted in October 2005 by each of the 28 existing SHAs and the consultation documents published by the SHAs in December 2005.
On 12 April the Department of Health announced that the current 28 Strategic Health Authorities will be reorganised into ten. Subject to Government approval, the new SHAs will come into force from 1 July. They match the boundaries of the English regional governments, apart from the South East which is split into two.
